Julien Rose, portrait and fashion photography

Photographs of people, made slowly.

We shoot in daylight, in quiet rooms, by the water and on the street. You show up as yourself, we take our time, and you leave with pictures you will actually print.

We would rather get one frame right than fifty frames close.

Most people say they hate being photographed. Usually that means they have been photographed in a hurry. We start every session with a coffee and a conversation, because the picture is mostly decided before the camera comes up.

The studio works with models, creators, small fashion labels and families who just want a good portrait on the wall. The clothes change. The approach does not: natural light first, simple direction, and an edit that keeps skin looking like skin.

Everything on this page was shot on location, from a garden in bloom to a bamboo ladder in the rain.

Walking through lake water in a rose dress

Light does most of the work. We just stand in the right place.

A lake at dusk, a shaded window, a wall that holds the afternoon. We scout the place first and plan the hour around where the light will be kind.
